Fwd: Happy Diwali

11 year old Munita Kumari's childhood had never been happy. The second among five siblings, Munita lives with her family at the Kankarbagh Tempo Stand slum in Patna, Bihar. She has grown up watching both her parents feeding the children by working round the clock, even taking up manual scavenging, when they could not find any other work. Munita would look after her younger brothers and sisters at home.

During a community mobilization, teachers from Smile Foundation's Mission Education centre at Lohia Nagar slum spotted Munita and convinced her parents to enrol her at the centre.

Today, Munita enjoys studying, playing and dreaming. "I want to study further. I don't know whether I will become a doctor or not, but I wish to work in a hospital and help save lives," says Munita.

19,000 children like Munita are presently getting education at 90 Mission Education centres across India. Most of them do not get many occasions to celebrate.

You can make this Diwali special for them! Help us continue their education and bring the light of hope and happiness in theses innocent lives.

Wishing you a brighter Diwali!
